Ukrainian dairy market

As earlier, within this week prices on Ukrainian domestic/export dairy products’ markets continued sagging (mainly due to Ukrainian domestic/export markets’ low demand and domestic market offer seasonal growth). Besides, within this week UAH/US$ exchange rate has grown to UAH21,783.027 against US$100 (up to NBU official exchange rate), up 7.4% as of last week — what has pressed domestic market prices still deeper. Simultaneously, global market prices continued declining — what prompted traders to offer to Ukrainian domestic producers still lower purchase prices (though Ukrainian domestic resources’ prices remained up against last year similar).
In meanwhile, within this week Ukrainian domestic market SMP prices have declined to UAH46–50,5 per kg (down 1.03% as of last week/down 3.19% as of last month similar); export market SMP prices have sagged to US$1,550–1,750 per MT (down 1.49% as of last week/down 10.20% as of last month similar). Experts say Ukrainian export market SMP prices have sagged mainly due to SMP prices’ lowing on EU countries’ domestic markets. Experts also say, so far Ukrainian producers don’t have any SMP big unsold reserves — but these reserves are certain to start growing in short time due to SMP prices’ decline on Ukrainian domestic/export markets.
In meanwhile, within this week seasonality factor has prompted Ukrainian producers to boost their WMP offer; at same time, within this week Ukrainian domestic market WMP prices have slackened to UAH52–55 per kg (down 2.73% against previous week); export market WMP prices have dropped to US$2,400–2,600 per MT (down 2.91% against previous week).
As of this week, Ukrainian domestic market block butter (72.5% fat, DSTU) prices have declined to UAH47–51 per kg (down 2.00% against previous week/down 6.00% against last month similar).
Simultaneously, this week Ukrainian export market block butter (72.5% fat, DSTU) prices have sagged to US$2,400–2,550 per MT (down 1.00% against previous week/down 3.56% against previous week).
Within this week Ukrainian butter producers have admitted country domestic market butter purchasers’ activity has slackened, with most purchasers having left domestic market in anticipation for prices’ further decline (to start due to seasonality factor).
However, experts admit within this week domestic market butter purchasers’ activity slackening has been somewhat balanced by Ukrainian export market relatively active butter sales.
As of this week, Ukrainian domestic market cheese prices were UAH68–76 per kg (same as within previous week/up 1.41% as of previous month similar); export market prices ranged within US$3,400–4,000 per MT (unchanged as of last week/down 2.63% against last month similar).
In meanwhile, within this week Ukrainian cheese producers tried to retain their sale prices mainly within above-mentioned prices range, with some producers having even slightly grown them (what has been stimulated by imported cheese prices’ boost, domestic cheese output cost price rise and fact of domestic producers having been constantly loosing their profits from whey sales within last few weeks due to prices’ decline on domestic/export whey markets).
However, it is to be admitted, within this week Ukrainian export cheese market prices remained more prone to declining than domestic market ones due to EU competition growth.
Within reporting week Ukrainian domestic market casein prices ranged within UAH120–125 per kg (unchanged against previous week/up 1.87% against last month similar); export market prices were US$5,000–5,400 per MT (same as within previous week/down 10.34% as of previous month similar).
Experts admit within this week Ukrainian domestic casein output growth was gradually boosting its pressure on country domestic/export markets. However, experts say, at same time purchasers’ demand on Ukrainian domestic/export markets remained slack, especially on export market.
At same time, within reporting week Ukrainian domestic market demineralized whey prices have sagged to UAH13,00–14,00 per kg (down 5.26% against previous week/down 20.30% against last month similar); export market prices have declined to US$500–560 per MT (down 1.85% as of last week/down 16.86% as of last month similar).
Simultaneously, this week Ukrainian domestic market classic whey prices have slackened to UAH11,80–12,00 per kg (down 4.80% against previous week/down 19.19% against last month similar); export market prices have lowed to US$420–470 per MT (down 4.30% as of last week/down 20.32% as of last month similar).
Experts admit within this week whey prices on Ukrainian domestic/export markets have sagged mainly due to whey prices’ decline on EU countries’ domestic markets.
As of this week, Ukrainian inner market GOST canned milk prices have risen as of last week — up to UAH11,8–14,1 per can (380 gr).
