As to State Statistics Committee data, Ukrainian Mar 2011 milk import has boosted to 102 MT (up 43.4% against Feb 2011 (71 MT) and up 6,8 times as of Mar 2010).
As to Committee, Ukrainian Mar 2011 milk export has fallen to 539 MT (down 37% against Feb 2011). As of Mar 2011, Moldova was biggest purchaser of Ukrainian milk 188 MT; Kazakhstan was second biggest 155 MT.
Within this year Apr Ukrainian domestic whey market purchasers’ demand was rather low resulting in whey prices’ decline. As a result, within this week (as to market operators data) standard whey demand prices have fallen to UAH7,3007,500 per MT; demineralized whey sellers have declined their goods’ prices to UAH9,000 per MT (and down). Experts affirm prices’ fall is mainly due to export companies’ demand absence.
Immediately after having sold off cheeses produced within winter, Ukrainian cheese-makers have once again significantly boosted cheeses’ output. Unfortunately, cheeses’ output boost has been motivated not by domestic/foreign markets’ demand growth: in fact, cheese-makers simply had to use their raw milk resources and therefore, as it was unprofitable to carry out milk drying, have chosen to continue producing cheeses (whose output still remained profitable taking into account raw milk resources’ purchase prices). Thus, Ukrainian cheese-makers have already within this year Mar surged rennet cheeses (incl. rennet cheese products) output to 14,000 MT, up 44% against this year Feb; cheese output has been boosted by both big as well as small producers. Cheeses’ output boost, in its turn, forced market operators to stimulate cheeses’ market sale rates through sale prices’ lowering: thus, within this year Apr most market operators have lowered cheeses’ sale prices by 510%, so within this year mid Apr traditional cheeses’ sale prices ranged within UAH4243 per kg (cheese products about UAH3233 per kg).
Within reporting week Ukrainian domestic market SMP offer prices ranged within UAH2627 per kg; SMP export prices (for non-CIS countries) fluctuated within US$2,8002,950 per MT, up 5% as of last week US$2,6502,800 per MT.
Within reporting week domestic market cheese prices ranged within UAH4044 per kg. As of this week, Ukrainian companies exported cheese in just small lots with export prices fluctuating within US$5,5005,650 per MT.
Within this week domestic casein market situation has slightly changed against previous week: casein prices have declined to UAH7073 per kg, down 1% as of last week UAH7274 per kg. However, domestic casein trade rates were very slack.
As of this week, domestic market butter prices have grown by 8% against previous week, up to UAH3334 per kg; this week butter export prices have sagged to US$3,8004,000 per MT, down 7.1% as of last week.
