UKRAINIAN DAIRY MARKET

AGRO PERSPECTIVE «AGRO+ MILK UKRAINE #47 December 23, 2010.

Within reporting week Ukrainian dairy products’ market did not undergo any significant changes. Trade activity was rather low; most dairy products were exported in just small lots.

As of this week, cheese and butter domestic/external sale rates have slightly risen against previous week due to demand growth on the eve of New Year/Christmas holidays.
On Ukrainian domestic/external markets, all dairy products’ prices remained unchanged against previous week. Prices’ stability is to be explained with fact of Ukrainian producers having accumulated dairy products’ rather high reserves which prevent prices seasonal growth.
As to results of market prices’ monitoring (carried out by State Inspection for Prices Control), as of Dec 20/10, Ukrainian domestic market dairy products’ average prices have grown against Dec 10/10, in part., milk — from UAH5,89 per liter up to UAH5,96 per liter, up 1.2%; sour cream — from UAH15,97 per kg up to UAH16,05 per kg, up 0.5%; butter — from UAH47,26 per kg up to UAH48,03 per liter, up 1.6%).
