AGRO PERSPECTIVE «Ukrainian Grain & Oilseed Market » Nov 26-Dec 2, 2010`47`(301)

Sunflower

Within reporting week Ukrainian domestic sunseeds market remained relatively stable; trade  activity was high.
As of this week, EXW basis sunseeds purchase prices ranged within UAH4,100–4,300 per MT

Within this week Ukrainian sunseeds export prices ranged within US$605–615 per MT (FOB Black Sea ports).
It is to be admitted, State tough control over food articles’ prices/export has obliged many traders to start cooperating with oil extracting plants in order to optimize business profitability under present high risks’ condition. Thus, traders give sunseeds for processing to oil extracting plants on give-and-take condition, — what means that plants receive certain share of sunoil sales’ income as payment for their work (usually, plants receive about UAH250–350 per MT, depending on sunseeds’ volume and contracts’ conditions).
As of this year Nov 25, Ukrainian agrarians have harvested 7.15 mn MT sunseeds (average yield — 16,1 metric centners per ha). Agrarians have harvested sunseeds at all initially planned areas, -  4,436.200 ha.

Besides, 5.5% sunseeds were sold on markets (90.2% — through other trade channels).
In Jan-Oct 2009 agrarians sold 3,608.886 MT sunseeds.
As to Agro Perspective earlier report, in 2009 agricultural companies boomed sunseeds sales to 4.995 mn MT, up 2.089 mn MT (+ 71.9%) against 2008.
