UNICEF sounds alarm over rising child malnutrition, disease in Somalia

As to the UNICEF, 35,400 Somali children were treated for severe acute malnutrition within this year first two months.
Thats a nearly 60% boost against 2016 similar.
As to the report, over 18,400 cases of cholera or acute watery diarrhoea have been registered within Somalia since early 2017, the majority among young children.
UNICEF Regional Director for Eastern and Southern Africa Leila Pakkala described the numbers as «a wake-up call.»
As to the report, the UNICEF and its partners are shipping lifesaving supplies within Somalia, working alongside local authorities and communities within the hardest hit areas.
