Ukrainian President, Japanese Prime Minister meeting: We will coordinate positions to maintain security in international arena

As of today, while on an official visit to Japan, the Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko has held negotiations with the Prime Minister of Japan Shinzō Abe in the course of the official visit to Japan, President Petro Poroshenko Press Office reports.
«We will coordinate our actions within the UN Security Council, WTO and other international organizations,» Poroshenko said following the negotiations.
As to the report, the President reaffirmed unwavering support of Ukraine for Japans aspiration to acquire the status of a permanent member of the UN Security Council.
Reportedly, Poroshenko noted that Japan had marked the fifth anniversary of Fukushima nuclear disaster on this year Mar 11. On this year Apr 26, Ukraine will mark the thirtieth anniversary of Chernobyl nuclear disaster.
As to the report, in his turn, the Prime Minister Shinzō Abe reminded that Japan and Ukraine had become non-permanent members of the UN Security Council in 2016. «We must be responsible in order to fulfill the tasks. We will coordinate positions to maintain security in the international arena,» he said.
Reportedly, Shinzō Abe noted Japan was interested in developing relations with Ukraine. «Ukraine is our partner. We share the same values freedom, democracy, human rights and rule of law,» he stressed.
As to the report, the Japanese Prime Minister assured that his country would keep supporting the Ukrainian efforts aimed to overcome the consequences of the Chernobyl disaster. Japan will allocate additional EUR3.5 million for the construction of nuclear fuel storage in Ukraine.
