Poroshenko invites Japanese investors to Ukraine

As of today, while on an official visit to Japan,
the Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko has had a meeting with representatives of the Keidanren (the Japan Business Federation), UNIAN says referring to the President press service report.
As to the report, while speaking within the meeting, the
Ukrainian President has called on Japanese companies to invest into Ukraine and take part in the privatization of Ukrainian ports and energy sector facilities.
«Bilateral cooperation has never been so dynamic in our history. It has never reached such a high level of trust,» Poroshenko said.
As to the report, Poroshenko admitted that Ukrainian exports to Japan grew by 12% within 2015, while Japanese direct investment into Ukraine exceeded US$130 million.
As to the report, the Ukrainian President also expressed his gratitude to Japanese corporation Fujikura for investing into Ukraine. It is to be admitted, the companys activity focuses on the production of wire harnesses for the leading European automotive manufacturers up to the Japanese quality standards. Currently, Fujikura is building a facility to produce electrical components in Lviv region.
Reportedly, the Fujikuras President in turn urged other Japanese companies to invest into Ukraine and use competitive advantages this developing market offers.
As to the report, Poroshenko emphasized that an agreement on mutual promotion and protection of investments signed by Japan and Ukraine within Nov 2015 facilitated the activity of the Japanese companies in Ukraine.
Reportedly, the meeting with Poroshenko was attended by representatives of Toshiba Corporation, Mitsubishi Corporation, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Kawasaki Heavy Industries, Hitachi Ltd., Asahi Kasei, Itochu Corporation, Sumitomo Corporation, Sojitz Corporation, Teijin Limited, etc.
