One hundred million dollars is being provided by the World Bank to speed up the deployment of foreign health workers to combat the Ebola disease outbreak in West Africa, UN Radio says referring to the World Bank report.
As to report, this money raises the Bank’s funding to fight the virus over the last three months in Guinea, Liberia and Sierra Leone to more than US$500 million.
In recent weeks, West African and global development leaders have appealed for a massive coordinated reinforcement of international health teams to the three countries in order to contain the epidemic.
As to report, almost 5000 people have died and around 14,000 have been infected with the haemorrhagic fever.
In meanwhile, current estimates by the United Nations indicate that about 5000 international medical, training and support personnel are needed in the three countries over the coming months.
