Essential medicines lacking in many regions of world
31.10.2014 09:06 "Agro Perspectiva" (Kyiv) —
The availability of essential medicines in emergencies is still lacking in many parts of the world, UN Radio says referring to the President of the International Narcotics Control Board Dr. Lochan Naidoo report.
As to report, by meeting in Vienna for the third time this year, the board monitors and supports governments compliance with international drug control treaties.
Dr. Lochan Naidoo expressed his concern about access to essential medicines containing narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances.
He said this was due to limited material resources and the needs for increased training among health care professionals.
He added that the Ebola health crisis in West Africa has demonstrated the weakness of the health care system and the acute need for the delivery of medical supplies.
It is to be admitted, during the next two weeks the Board will also discuss licit poppy cultivation and initiatives on the non-medical use of cannabis.
