Petro Poroshenko and Jean-Claude Juncker discussed situation in Ukraine and development of relations with the EU

As of yesterday, President Petro Poroshenko had a phone conversation with Jean-Claude Juncker who will start performing duties of President of the European Commission on November 1, President Petro Poroshenko Press Office reports.
As to report, Jean-Claude Juncker congratulated the Head of State on democratic parliamentary elections and expressed hope that new Government would be formed in Ukraine soon.
Reportedly, the President expressed gratitude for high evaluation of the elections and noted that Ukrainians had passed a hard challenge for democracy by holding free and transparent elections in difficult conditions for the country.
Besides, the Head of State also expressed hope for further development of relations between Ukraine and the EU, particularly, for efficient implementation of the Association Agreement.
As to report, te interlocutors discussed the situation in the Donbas. Petro Poroshenko informed that non-compliance with bilateral ceasefire by militants and their intention to hold illegitimate elections on November 2 would ruin Minsk agreements on peaceful settlement.
Also, the parties touched upon the issue of macro-financial assistance from the EU. President Poroshenko noted that Ukraine expected two tranches for the sum of EUR 760 million by the end of the year. At the same time, Ukraine realizes that for this end, it is necessary to establish an efficient Government that will ensure transparent use of these funds.
The interlocutors also discussed tripartite gas consultations held in Brussels today. They stressed the necessity of introducing of the financial mechanisms for the establishment of uninterrupted supply of Russian gas to Ukraine and guarantees of European energy security.
Reportedly, Petro Poroshenko invited Jean-Claude Juncker to make his first visit to Ukraine as President of the European Commission.
