11.06.2012 12:14 "Agro Perspectiva" (Kyiv) —
Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych has wished Ukraines national football team good luck during the matches of the EURO 2012 European Football Championship.
The head of state told this to the players on last week Friday, while visiting the training base of the national football team, the presidential press service reported. «I want you to feel that the hearts of all Ukrainians will beat and think about you, that you are playing on home soil, and that the energy of the native land will give you the strength to do everything possible and impossible,» Yanukovych said. He also added that Ukrainian fans believe that Ukrainian players would do everything possible for their victory and called on them to demonstrate fighting spirit on the pitch. «I wish you good luck. We will ask God to help you. I will keep my fingers crossed,» the president said. Yanukovych said that in 2010, few people believed that Ukraine will be able to prepare for EURO 2012. The head of state recalled that he had been advised to give up the holding of EURO 2012 in Ukraine, but he had not listened to this advice. «This possibility happens once in a lifetime, and if I lost it, I would not forgive myself for this, and, perhaps, the fans would not forgive me for this,» the president said.
