President: National agro-industrial complex must become competitive

National agro-industrial complex must become competitive. It was stated by the President yesterday at the solemn meeting on occasion of the Day of agricultural worker, President Viktor Yanukovych Press Office reports.
«We must create a competitive agro-industrial complex that would allow Ukraine to take leading places in the world food market and adequately respond to global challenges,» the President said.
The Head of State noted that the global market demonstrated positive signals and according to the forecast, the demand would further grow. «It is a historical chance for Ukraine and we must use it in order to take the leading place in the world food market,» Viktor Yanukovych stressed.
The Head of State stressed that national agro-industrial complex had already had certain achievements, particularly in increasing the production of milk and meat and the number of cattle, which is the first time in recent years.
«Such significant results are achieved first of all due to your high professionalism, responsible and creative approach to the work,» the President noted.
Viktor Yanukovych added that the results of Ukrainian agricultural producers were positively assessed by international community. «According to international experts, Ukraine is one of the five countries having an opportunity for decisive break through in the development of agro-industrial complex,» he emphasized.
The President noted that according to forecasts, the volume of production in the agricultural sector of Ukraine in the next ten years would increase by about 30%. «But in order to turn these predictions into reality it is necessary to solve a number of difficult problems in national agriculture,» he stressed.
