UGA considers grains export quota introduction putting-off unmotivated
12.11.2007 16:54 "Agro Perspectiva" (Kyiv) —
As to Volodymyr Klymenko, Ukrainian Grain Association (UGA) President Nov 8 report, he is convinced grains export quota introduction (targeted at domestic food market prices retention) putting-off is unreasonable. “We think this Decree is rather of emotional than of practical character, since Government is worried about food articles prices growth and inflation,” declared Klymenko. As to UGA President, Ukrainian 2007 grains crop export potential is 5 mn MT and up, what means that “this grain won’t sell, each day will bring losses caused by this grain storage and therefore this grain will continuously get more expensive.” As to Agro Perspective earlier report, Cabinet decided to introduce 1.2 mn MT grains export quota in Jan 2008 instead of initially planned Nov 1, 2007.
