Yushchenko: grains market policy is dull and ill-considered

President Viktor Yushchenko estimates authorities interference into country grains market as ill-considered/nonprofessional, reported President press-service referring to his speech on Cherkassy region grains market meeting. “Current state of Ukrainian grains market is a sign of situation getting worse each year. So, we must start solving grains market organization key problems right away,” declared President. As to Yushchenko, country grains production is now characterized with many negative tendencies. “Administrative, limiting measures can’t be called well-considered, reliable professional policy. It’s just a policy of bungling State authorities which destroys possibilities of millions of people who live and work in Ukrainian villages,” recapitulated President. Yushchenko stressed State which doesn’t permit “agricultural commercial interests” to advance is finally obliged to resort to grains purchases in order to assure country grains balance. “I want those who tries now to hamper shipping out of grains from Odessa ports to understand that this is policy leading into “nowhere,” admitted President. As to Agro Perspective earlier report, Yushchenko had signed Decree on grains market development measures.
