Slauta will stand for lands sales moratorium prolonging
18.09.2007 10:06 "Agro Perspectiva" (Kyiv) —
Ukrainian Agrarian-Industrial Complex Vice Premier Viktor Slauta is going to insist on agricultural lands sales moratorium prolonging for at least 1 year as this matter requires more thorough/comprehensive examination, reported Zaporizhia Regional State Administration press-service referring to Slauta declaration made within Zaporizhia Regional Agrarian-Industrial Complex development meeting. Slauta said it is early so far to speak about Ukrainian lands market forming; he admitted Ukraine should follow Netherlands example (i.e. introduction of legislation limitation on lands sales to foreigners). As to Agro Perspective earlier report, Jan 9 Verkhovna Rada had rejected veto imposed by Yushchenko on Law “About Bringing Changes into Ukrainian Land Code” (stipulating agricultural lands purchase moratorium efficiency till corresponding legislative acts adoption). As to Agro Perspective, end 2006 Yushchenko had returned this Law to Parliament for repeated examination having provided it with his suggestions. Dec 19, 2006 Verkhovna Rada (by 354 votes) had adopted Law prohibiting agricultural lands sales until Jan 1, 2008.
