27.08.2007 10:14 "Agro Perspectiva" (Kyiv) —
As of now, meat/meat resources importing companies continue shipping these products to Ukrainian territory on give-and-take schemes despite Cabinet ban (effective until Sept 1, 2007), reported Petro Verbytskiy, Deputy Ministry of Agrarian Policy, on briefing. As to Verbytskiy, importers bring products into Ukraine due to Courts decisions: importers affirm, they continue bringing in products up to contracts concluded a few year ago, long before Cabinet ban. Verbytskiy made it known presently meat resources are most actively imported on give-and-take schemes by Cherkassy Food Company (pork) and Dnipropetrivsk Food Company (poultry). Verbytskiy added Dnipropetrivsk Food Company owner also imports meat products through companies Khortytsia and Povar; Verbitskiy didn’t specify owner name. Deputy Minister admitted Ukrainian authorities are going to settle conflict with these companies in legal form as it is difficult to maintain dialogue with these companies representatives. As to Agro Perspective earlier report, Cabinet is going to prolong give-and-take meat import ban (Goods Group 02, as for UKT ZED) until Dec 31, 2007. As to Ministry of Agrarian Policy, this year Jan-Jul meat import has risen to 126,000 MT, up 32,000 MT (+ 34%) against last year similar. As to Ministry, 2006 meat import totaled 232,000 MT.
