Cattle Population Down By 1% To 6.76 Million Heads In June

In June, cattle population declined by 1% or 68,100 heads compared to May, to 6,762,700 heads as of July 1, the State Statistics Committee reports. In June, the cow population fell by 0.2% or by 7,800 heads and amounted to 3,339,100 heads as of July 1. Cattle population fell by 0.8% or 30,500 heads to 4,483,600 heads in private farms, and by 1.6% or 37,600 heads to 2,279,100 heads in specialized farms. Compared to July 1, 2006, cattle population has reduced by 7.4% or 539,400 heads, including, in specialized farms by 13.7% and in private by 3.8%. In May, cattle population dropped 0.3% or 19,500 heads compared to April, to 6,850,300 heads as of June 1.
