Ministry of Agrarian Policy considers winter crops good/satisfactory
16.02.2007 10:00 "Agro Perspectiva" (Kyiv) —
As to Borys Supikhanov, First Deputy Minister of Agrarian Policy, Ministry experts have estimated winter grains sown areas condition as good/satisfactory. Supikhanov says main problem agrarians will face this season is plants pests/infections (stimulated by rather warm winter weather) and therefore winter grains sown areas must be actively fertilized/processed with plants protection means. As to Agro Perspective earlier report, end Jan 2007 Ministry of Agrarian Policy experts estimated winter grains sown at 0.6 mn ha (8% total) as weak/rare. It is to be reminded, in 2006 all categories companies had sown winter crops (excl. rape) for grain/green feeds at total 6.981 mn ha (as to State Statistic Committee), up 12.7% against 2005.
