UGA proposes barley/maize export quotas canceling with simultaneous wheat quota raising from 3,000 MT up to 1.1 mn MT

As to Volodymyr Klymenko, Ukrainian Grain Association (UGA) President, Association has initiated wheat export quota boosting from current 3,000 MT up to 1.1 mn MT within 2006/07 MY. «We’ve proposed to cancel barley and maize export quotas with simultaneous wheat quota raising up to 1.1 mn MT,» declared Klymenko as commenting Ministry of Agrarian Policy meeting with grains exporting companies results. As to Klymenko, UGA proposal is expected to be examined by Government on 6 Feb. As to Agro Perspective earlier report, Cabinet had introduced food grains export quotas until end this MY (incl. wheat 3,000 MT; barley 600,000 MT; maize 500,000 MT). As to Agro Perspective, 2006 grains crop totaled 34.3 mn MT (down against 38.015 mn MT in 2005).
