WHO: Congo Ebola cases up again
01.04.2019 14:11 "Agro Perspectiva" (Kyiv) —
A rise of new cases of deadly Ebola virus disease within the Congo has been announced, while the Congo authorities say that progress is being made in accessing communities that have been wary of outside help, UN Radio says referring to the WHO (UN World Health Organization) report.
As to the report, as to the latest authorities’ data, a total of 1,029 confirmed and probable cases of Ebola have been reported, while 642 people have died, making the latest Ebola outbreak the worst within the country history.
Reportedly, at same time, over 320 patients have already recovered and been discharged from treatment centres. However, 125 new cases were reported from 51 health areas all over the country within the past week. All these new cases have been linked to known chains of transmission, indicating that contact tracing, vaccination and isolation of carriers for treatment is working.
It is to be admitted, the WHO experts admit that the efforts to encourage the Congo local communities to engage more within the Ebola fight have been successful.
