Ukraine exhausted its 2018 basic quotas for honey, apple/grape juice and maize export

As of early 2019, Ukraine has already fully used all its 2018 basic quotas for honey, apple and grape juice, as well as maize export , Ukrinform says referring to Mykola Pugachiov, Deputy Director of the National Science Center «Institute of Agrarian Economics», report.
«The European Union is one of the main buyers of the Ukrainian agricultural products and foods. As of 2018, the Ukrainian agricultural products and foods’ export to the EU boosted to US$6.3 milliard, thus becoming highest within the Ukrainian entire independence period. These export shipments, traditionally, consisted of grains, oilseeds, vegetable oils and animal fats, as well as agricultural products’ by-products. So, as of this year beginning, Ukrainian has already fully used its 2018 basic quotas for honey, apple and grape juice, as well as maize,» Pugachiov admitted.
As to him, the conditions of the EU/Ukraine free trade zone provide that Ukraine should receive a number of duty-free export quotas for plant/animal agricultural products and ready-made foods.
He reminded that Ukraine has been always completely using its basic quotas for wheat, maize, barley groats, honey, processed tomatoes and apple/grape juices’ export .
