Last year Ukraine bought seafoods for over US$500 million

As of 2018, fish and seafoods made the largest share (10%) of the Ukrainian agricultural products’ total import, Ukrinform says referring to the National Science Center «Institute of Agrarian Economics» report.
«As to the Ukrainian State Statistics Service, as of 2018, the import of products of the group „Fish, Crustaceans and Molluscs“ amounted to US$550 million, up 21% against 2017,» the report reads.
As to the report, as of 2018, Ukraine purchased mainly the frozen, fresh or chilled fish. Most fish and seafoods were imported into Ukraine from Europe and North America.
«Within over 10 years, Norway remained the seafoods’ biggest shipper for our country. As of 2018, Norwegian shipments (as for quantitative volume) became somewhat down against those from Iceland, but due to higher purchase prices its share within the Ukrainian seafoods’ import still remained the biggest 29.1%,» the report reads.
