1 half year agrarians barley sales down 2.2%, to 473,000 MT

As to State Statistics Committee, within 2006 first half Ukrainian agricultural companies of all kinds ownership (except small-scale ones) have declined barley sales to 473,589 MT, down 10,813 MT (- 2.2%) against 2005 first half. As for barley sales structure, 1.8% barley was sold to processing companies, 3.9% have been given to population (incl. public catering system) on account of salaries and 2.2% to shareholders on account of land plots/property shares rental payment, reports State Statistics Committee. As to report, agricultural companies have sold off 13.9% barley in shops (stalls, booths, etc) and on markets, while 0.1% was sold on exchange markets/auctions. 78.1% barley was sold through other trade channels. As earlier reported, within 1 half year 2005 agricultural companies had sold in total 484,402 MT barley. Experts estimate Jul 1, 2006 Ukrainian grain processing/storage companies barley reserves 108,867 MT, up 31.8% (+ 26,248 MT) as of Jul 1, 2005. This year agricultural companies/individual economies have enlarged winter/spring barley sown areas (2006 crop) to 5.3 mn ha, up 809,000 ha (+ 18%) against last year.
