Kharkiv region agrarians started grains harvesting

As of Jul 14, Kharkiv region agrarians have begun early grains harvesting, reported representative of Regional Agriculture/Foods Main Department (Kharkiv Regional State Administration). «On Friday, Jul 14, a number of first companies have already started harvesting,» declared Agriculture/Foods Main Department representative. He added on Mon, Jul 17, harvesting campaign was joined to by 15 districts companies (out of total Kharkiv region 27 districts). He made it known early grains/leguminous have been already mowed at 15,900 ha (2.1% total planned 757,800 ha) and threshed at 9,700 ha, with grain crop totaling 24,200 MT; early grains/leguminous average yield is 25,3 metric centners per ha. Wheat has been mowed at 11,800 ha (3.1% total planned 375,800 ha)/threshed at 6,700 ha; wheat crop is 18,300 MT, wheat average yield 27,4 metric centners per ha. Peas have been mowed at 2,700 ha (18.2% total planned 14,800 ha)/threshed at 1,700 ha; peas crop totals 3,000 MT, peas average yield is 17,1 metric centners per ha. Reportedly, this year Kharkiv region agrarians plan to harvest early grains/leguminous at total 757,000 ha, incl. 366,000 ha winter grains ( 349,000 ha barley and 15,000 ha leguminous/oats). Kharkiv region forecasts this year regional grain crop will reach 2.1 mn MT. Ministry of Agrarian Policy forecasts Ukrainian 2006 grain crop will be not below 40 mn MT
