Yemen suspected cholera cases likely to double to over 600,000
24.07.2017 08:02 "Agro Perspectiva" (Kyiv) —
The number of suspected cholera cases within Yemen is expected to at least double by the end of this year, to more than 600,000, UN Radio says referring to the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) report.
It is to be admitted, the report has appeared as the World Health Organization (WHO) declared last week that the war-torn country faces the world largest ever cholera outbreak.
Matt Wells reports.
It is to be admitted, the WHO estimates that there are already around 370,000 suspected cases of cholera, and nearly 2,000 recorded deaths since the outbreak began at the end of April.
The water-borne disease, which leads to uncontrollable diarrhoea, attacks the most vulnerable and nearly 15 million Yemenis are without access to basic healthcare, due to the on-going conflict.
