Humanitarian food aid costs have skyrocketed, WFP warns
24.07.2017 09:14 "Agro Perspectiva" (Kyiv) —
Skyrocketing humanitarian needs are over a 140% «spike» of the cost of getting food to vulnerable communities worldwide, many of which need more help from their own countries, UN Radio says referring to the World Food Programme (WFP) report.
As to the WFP, within 2015 it spent US$5.3 milliard (whereas seven years earlier, it was only US$2.2 milliard).
It is to be admitted, a co-author of the WFP report on World Food Assistance, Steven Were Omamo, blamed conflict and political instability for the situation, while also calling on governments to rethink their priorities.
