Over 150 child deaths already this year on Africa-Italy route

Over 150 children have died crossing the Central Mediterranean from North Africa to Italy so far this year, UN Radio says referring to the UN Childrens Fund (UNICEF) report.
As to the report, the UNICEF suggests that the number of casualties may be even higher, given that many of the children are unaccompanied and their deaths often go unreported.
«Since the start of the year, nearly 37,000 refugees and migrants, 13% of whom are children, have reached Italy by sea via the Central Mediterranean a boost of 42% against last year similar,» Stéphane Dujarric, the UN Spokesperson, admits.
As to him, at least 849 people have been lost at sea along the route since this year Jan.
