PM says Ukraine, EU began discussions on Ukrainian accession to EU digital community

As of today, Ukrainian Prime Minister Volodymyr Groisman has held a meeting with EU Commissioner for Digital Economy and Society Günter Oettinger. The parties have agreed position on the partnership in the creation of digital community and discussed possible projects aimed at promoting cooperation in this area, Government Portal reports. As to the report, the PM has noted that Ukraine is interested in the initiative of the EU Commissioner as to the integration of Ukraine into the EU digital single market. «We are absolutely ready to act fully in sync with you towards the development of the digital economy,» he stressed.
Reportedly, Groisman pointed out that Ukraine has the great potential for development and implementation of digital technology, taking into account high level of education of Ukrainians and the quality of Ukrainian IT professionals.
As to the report, on the proposal of the European Commissioner, the parties have agreed to establish a working group to assess the requirements necessary for Ukraines integration into the digital single market. The Ukraine-EU working group will start its work within this year Sept and the designed agenda may become an action plan for other Eastern Partnership countries, highlighted EU Commissioner for Digital Economy and Society Günther Oettinger.
Reportedly, Ukrainian PM outlined the possible projects of implementation of digital cooperation, particularly in the areas of e-commerce, e-customs, e-health.
As to Groisman, e-governance and internal reform are among the Government priorities.
«Changing the system of governance with the use of new technologies is a priority for us. It is efficient, transparent, minimizing human intervention in the process of governance and is an anti-corruption step,» he pointed out.
