26.07.2016 17:48 "Agro Perspectiva" (Kyiv) —
As of today, while speaking at the press conference after the Digital Economy Forum in Kyiv, Günther Oettinger, the EU Commissioner for Digital Economy and Society, believes that Ukraine has all chances to implement the digital strategy and to join the European digital community by the end of this decade, Ukrinform reports.
«I am confident that Ukraine will be able to implement a digital strategy and join the European digital space by the end of this decade,» Oettinger said.
As to Oettinger, Ukraine is now «far from the starting point» and has a fairly strong base of IT professionals and startups for further development of the digital sector.
«You have more IT professionals and startups than many European EU Member States. You have a high level of education and academic excellence,» the Commissioner said.
Besides, he also noted that within next few weeks a joint working group of experts from Ukraine and the EU should develop a common agenda, identify priorities for cooperation in the digital field, form a research sector in order to be able to carry out joint research projects and determine the infrastructure, etc.
