Baranivskiy considers 2006 grain production might exceed 38 mn MT
16.06.2006 10:44 "Agro Perspectiva" (Kyiv) —
Oleksandr Baranivskiy, Acting Minister of Agrarian Policy, declared on International Agricultural Exhibition-Fair AGRO-2006 ceremonial opening he thinks this year Ukrainian grain crop can be up against last year similar, that is, over 38 mn MT. «Despite forecasts of all skeptics, a big, exuberant crop of early grains is repining now in Ukraine. Country will have bread…» said Baranivskiy. «If within harvesting we properly coordinate our efforts, as it was done within sowing campaign, and if God and nature helps us in that, then Ukraine will be able to harvest grain crop which will be even more abundant as in last year,» emphasized Acting Minister. As earlier reported, 2005 grain crop totaled 38.015 mn MT (down against 41.808 mn MT in 2004).
