Ukrainian Gov supports Agrarian Ministry initiative on country sugar industry deregulation
29.02.2016 09:17 "Agro Perspectiva" (Kyiv) —
Upon the initiative of the Ukrainian Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food, the Cabinet adopted (as of this year Feb 24), a draft law on deregulation of the country sugar industry, Government Portal reports.
While commenting on the draft law, Oleksiy Pavlenko, the Ukrainian Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food, said the
tools that presently regulate the sugar industry (which had been provided by the Law «On state regulation of production and realization of sugar»), are inefficient in use what has been demonstrated by significant annual fluctuations in prices and by the sugar surplus deficit on the domestic market. So, the Ministry has initiated their abolition.
«We are deregulating the agricultural sector, in particular the sugar beet industry. Proposed by the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food and supported by the Government the new bill provides further development of the sugar beet industry based on market principles and free competition. Meanwhile the domestic market and a Ukrainian manufacturer remain protected by 50% import duty. This is another step towards deregulation», Pavlenko said.
