Yatseniuk calls for negotiations with European partners on raising quotas for Ukrainian products under FTA
30.07.2015 11:19 "Agro Perspectiva" (Kyiv) —
The Ukraine-EU Free Trade Agreement comes into force on 1 Jan 2016. So it is necessary to negotiate with European partners on enlarging the quotas for Ukrainian products within the FTA, Government Portal says referring to the Ukrainian Prime Minister Arseniy Yatseniuk report at a yesterday Government session.
«But quotas should be used for quality and competitive products,» Yatseniuk emphasized.
As to the report, Yatseniuk admitted that Ukrainian Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food Oleksiy Pavlenko is facing a difficult task: «On the one hand, we need to ensure export, because export means inflows of foreign exchange earnings to the country, an opportunity for enterprises to sow, development of the agricultural sector. On the other hand - the key task for the Government is food security. This means minimum reserves that will enable us to safely feed the country.»
«The wheat export is good, but it is much better to export added value of the processed products - what enables the country to earn much more,» the PM underlined.
For this purpose, Yatseniuk noted, «we must conduct serious negotiations with farmers».
