New UN General Assembly President elected

The UN General Assembly has elected a President for its 70th session beginning in Sept, UN Radio reports.
As to the report, Mogens Lykketoft (the former Speaker of the Denmark Parliament) has been elected by the 193 UN Member States on Mon. He will serve for a period of one year.
Reportedly, Mr. Lykketoft says that as the newly elected President he will seek to reflect successes and shortcomings of the General Assembly during the last 70 years, while looking to the future.
It is to be admitted, the General Assembly is the main deliberative organ of the United Nations, where each nation has an equal vote.
In his acceptance speech, Mr. Lykketoft said that the theme of his term will be «the United Nations at 70 a new commitment to action».
