31.12.2014 16:20 "Agro Perspectiva" (Kyiv) —
Ukrainian State oil-and-gas company Naftogaz has pre-paid Russian Gazprom for approximately one billion cubic meters (bcm) of gas for the January 2015 supplies, NRCU says referring to the Naftogaz press office report on Wednesday, December 31.
As to the report, the pre-payment includes an unused advance payment for December 2014 and a separate advance for January 2015.
In meanwhile, Gazprom told Interfax that it had received US$150 million in prepayment for January gas.
Reportedly, Naftogaz said the gas that will be purchased from the unused December advance is calculated at a new price. Naftogaz will order and use volumes of gas depending on the needs of Ukrainian consumers.
It is to be admitted, Naftogaz on December 24 transferred US$1.65 milliard to Gazprom as payment for gas that had been earlier delivered and not paid for. The first tranche of US$1.45 milliard had been paid on November 4. Thus, in accordance with the agreements reached in Brussels, Naftogaz paid US$3.1 milliard in two tranches for 11.5 milliard cubic meters of gas supplied by Gazprom in November-December 2013 and April-June 2014.
As of December 24, Naftogaz had taken 300 million cubic meters of the 1 billion cubic meters of December gas that it had paid for in advance. The gas that had been paid for but not taken will be supplied to Naftogaz in January 2015.
