Number of exporters stopped purchases due to grain export licensing uncertainness

Some Ukrainian grain export companies have temporarily stopped grains purchasing due to absence of definite information on grain export licensing introduction, reported Agrarika Ltd referring to market participants data.
As to Agrarika Ltd, exporters even didn’t take food/feed wheat long positions within last week, what resulted in ports maximal purchase prices lowering.
As to report, food/feed wheat current ports prices are correspondingly UAH695710 per MT/UAH620625 per MT (CPT port).
Wheat was actively purchased mainly by companies which needed to fulfill earlier concluded contracts.
Feed maize purchase prices were stable due to exporters/processors prices demand remaining as high as earlier.
Reportedly, early this week Oleksandr Baranivskiy, Minister of Agrarian Policy, declared that within Mar 15 meeting Cabinet had adopted decision on all kinds grains export licensing establishing until this MY end (i.e. Jul 1, 2006); however, Baranivskiy didn’t name corresponding decision number.
As to Baranivskiy, licensing establishing is targeted only at State export control and therefore won’t restrict grain export.
However, within literary a few hours Ukrainian Prime Minister Yuriy Yekhanurov has refuted Baranivskiy declaration saying there was no decision on grain export licensing establishing.
As to Cabinet information source, this decision, though was examined within Cabinet Mar 15 meeting, yet wasn’t signed by Prime Minister; in fact, within meeting it was decided only to hold additional consultations with grain market participants and to examine domestic market grain reserves question.
