"The only industry today which demonstrates certain growth is agriculture. I have insisted and still highlight that we have two points of growth in the Ukrainian economy. The first one is agriculture. The second is energy. Our task is to spare no effort to ensure Ukraine could regain prestige on the global food market,"
Government Portal says referring to the Ukrainian Prime Minister Arseniy Yatseniuk report made on Tuesday, August 19, at the beginning of the meeting with representatives of the largest agricultural producers of Ukraine, which took place in Cherkasy region in the frames of a roundtable «The principal aspects of the Governments comprehensive package of changes to the tax system (the Concept of reforming the tax system of Ukraine)».
As to the Head of the Government, we possess all the necessary things to perform this task: «Someone has oil, others have gas. We own the soil and have an opportunity to feed Ukraine and to feed considerable amount of countries which have to pay in currency to Ukraine for the agricultural products we sell».
«Our foreign creditors suggest us to switch over to the common system of taxation in agriculture. We realize that we can apply that in case if we introduce subsidies and grants stipulated by European Union. Otherwise, it will be difficult to compete,» said the Head of Government.
He stressed that the ongoing roundtable on the Concept of reforming of the Ukrainian tax system will make it possible to hear all views and plan further joint actions. He also called on the farmers to engage constructively in the discussion.
