Ukrainian Prime Minister negotiates reverse gas supplies through Slovakia

"We need to have opportunities for a common access to GTS and I hope that we will solve this issue with you for the sake of mutually beneficial trade," Mykola Azarov said on October 1 during a meeting with the Speaker of the National Council of the Slovak Republic Pavol Paška, Mykola Azarov Official Website reports.
Head of the Government reminded that negotiations were in progress and an agreement on reverse gas supplies to Ukraine through Slovakia was being prepared. In addition, he expressed confidence that such a re-export of natural gas is beneficial to both countries.
"This is a difficult question. But, nevertheless, we are members of the European Energy Charter, which means that you and I should be able to diversify supplies, "- Prime Minister said.
Mykola Azarov also invited Slovak Prime Minister to visit Ukraine and to discuss a range of issues of bilateral cooperation, including those in the energy sector.
In addition, Prime Minister thanked Slovakia for a continued support of European integration. Pavol Paška, in turn, promised that the top leadership of his country would continue to support the ambitions of Ukraine pursuing the European course.
