16.04.2013 09:17 "Agro Perspectiva" (Kyiv) —
Ukraine takes into account recommendations of the PACE but it is important that they are not politicized. It was stated by the President at the yesterday meeting with PACE Monitoring Committee co-rapporteurs Mailis Reps and Marietta De Purbe-Lundin, President Viktor Yanukovych Press Office reports.
«Ukraine takes into account recommendations of the PACE but it is important that they are not politicized and their implementation is conducted within legal frame,» the Head of State noted. The President expressed confidence that cooperation between Ukraine and the PACE would be fruitful for our country and facilitate implementation of democratic reforms.
According to the President, Ukraine struggles to implement the Plan of Actions until 2014 approved jointly with the Council of Europe. «It is a real instrument of solving topical issues in approaching democratic standards,» Viktor Yanukovych said.
«We are continuing implementation of CPC; we have adopted the Law „On Advocacy»; we are elaborating the Law „On Prosecutor’s Office". Also, we have initiated functioning of the Constitutional Assembly that actively cooperates with the Venice Commission," the President emphasized.
«We understand that Ukraine’s obligations before the Council of Europe will be gradually fulfilled,» the Head of State noted.
In her turn, PACE Monitoring Committee co-rapporteur Mailis Reps noted: «There is no doubt that Ukraine is confidently moving towards European integration». She recalled her visit to Ukraine in 2010: «Then, I couldn’t understand Ukraine’s intentions».
«I remember our conversation, when you told me in details about your way to Europe. It is a pleasure that nobody puts it into question now,» she stressed.
