Ukraine in 2012 exported wheat and corn for 100.5 million dollars to South Africa

In 2012, the share of Ukrainian exports of wheat and corn has increased in the total exports of domestic products to the Republic of South Africa. In particular, these crops were delivered to South Africain the amount of USD 100.5 million, while total trade turnover between the countries amounted to 171.2million dollars. This was discussed at todays meeting of the Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food Mykola Prysyazhnyuk and Ambassador of the Republic of South Africa to Ukraine Mr. C. S. Mathabatha, Government Portal reports.
Opening the meeting, Mykola Prysyazhnyuk noted that in 2012 year it was reached highest rate oftrade in bilateral relations between Ukraine and South Africa, which was amounted to 171.2 million dollars.He noted that last year major structural changes occurred in Ukrainian exports to South Africa.
The Minister stressed that the Ukrainian side is interested in cooperation with South Africa. In particular, the Ukrainian side will offer to start supplying poultry products, sunflower oil and sugar to market of South Africa. In addition, in the near future will be enhanced cooperation in the field of agricultural market infrastructure, poultry, using the latest manufacturing of natural fertilizers as well as will be developed cooperation in education and science.
«If Ukraine enters the South African market, it will mean the entry to all South African subcontinentwith a population of over 160 million. So just before the visit of the President of Ukraine it would beadvisable to organize bilateral meetings that would improve the preparation of this visit,»- Mr. C. S. Mathabatha.
Ambassador of South Africa thanked for the expansion of relations with Ukraine in the agricultural sector and confirmed the intention to deepen further cooperation.
