Eduard Stavitskyi met with representatives of the United Nations Environment Programme UNEP

25.06.2012 09:21 "Agro Perspectiva" (Kyiv) — In the framework of the Rio +20 UN Conference on Sustainable Development in Rio de Janeiro(Brazil) Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources Eduard Stavitskyi met with representatives of the United Nations Environment Programme. During the meeting Eduard Stavitskyi welcomed steps by the international community to affirm the universal international environmental organization, the introduction of the Ecological Constitution of the Earth and the supporting of Ukrainian initiatives. For its part, UNEP leadership thanked Ukraine for practical measures to consolidate the international activities in the field of sustainable development, overcome the effects of the global financial and food crisis, the challenges posed by climate change, and to prevent other global threats to humanity in the future. The parties have agreed to open the United Nations Environment Programme UNEP Office in Kiev in the near future, which will greatly facilitate the cooperation with Ukraine and accelerate the implementation of environmental projects and initiatives.
