As of 2017, Ukrainians have installed over 200 solar power systems
11.05.2017 09:17 "Agro Perspectiva" (Kyiv) —
Ukraine sees positive dynamics of demand for solar panels from the population with another 200 households having installed private solar power systems with a total capacity of 3.4 MW within this year first quarter, UNIAN says referring to SErghiy Savchuk, Ukrainian State Agency for Energy Efficiency and Energy Saving Head, report.
«As to our monitoring, since the beginning of the year, the number of solar panels installed by private households has grown by 18%, and their total capacity rose by 20%. This ever-growing demand for clean energy is due to Ukrainian Law No. 514-VIII, introduced as early as 2015, and a green euro-pegged tariff for the purchase of electricity produced by solar installations up to 30 kW. Thanks to this tariff, families can sell surplus of their produced clean energy to the [power] grid and profit off of it,» Savchuk admits.
