Azarov: My resignation, invalidation of Jan 16 laws create basis for a compromise

29.01.2014 09:14 "Agro Perspectiva" (Kyiv) — Ex-Prime Minister Mykola Azarov believes that his decision to resign and the decision of the Verkhovna Rada to invalidate the laws passed on January 16 create a sufficient basis for compromise and emerging from the crisis in Ukraine. Azarov said this in his video address, posted on his official website, ForUm reports. «I took a very difficult for me, but at the same time responsible decision to resign from the post of prime minister. I took this decision because I wanted to provide all our political forces with an opportunity to reach agreement, to reach a compromise and emerge from the current crisis. The recent decisions of the Verkhovna Rada and my own decision create a sufficient basis for a compromise,» Azarov said. He stressed that «unity and integrity of our country, the possibility of its successful development are the most important things, while ambitions are secondary». Azarov also thanked the President and the Verkhovna Rada, «for supporting the Government in carrying out difficult reforms, complex transformations during my four years being in office». «I can honestly look into eyes of my compatriots as our country coped with many challenges that stood in its way under the world economic crisis. Thank you for your attention, thank you for your trust,» Azarov added.
