As of early January 2014, Belarusian companies have the opportunity to participate in public procurement in Kazakhstan, Belarus Radio reports.
This opportunity has been provided for by the agreement on government (municipal) procurement between the countries of the Customs Union of December 2010.
For Belarus and Russia this agreement came into effect in 2012. Thus, now the national public procurement regime takes effect for all three states of the Customs Union Belarus, Russia and Kazakhstan.
This will allow national companies economic entities to gain access to public procurement markets of Kazakhstan, Russia, whose volumes are much greater than those in Belarus. Also, Belarusian, Russia and Kazakhstan companies are given equal conditions for participation in public procurement. Increased the level of competition in conducting public procurement procedures will lead to more efficient spending of budgetary funds and stimulate the development of national industry. It will also ensure transparency in public procurement.
