So far, the Customs Union has demonstrated only intentions to grow rates of duty on Ukrainian goods’ export, with no real decisions having been taken, but if these decisions were taken, Ukraine would be ready to defend the interests of its domestic producers through discussions and consultations. This was announced by the Government Agent of Ukraine on cooperation with Russia, countries of CIS, EurAsEC and other regional associations Valeriy Muntiyan, Government Portal reports.
He stressed that the adoption of anti-dumping, countervailing and special events is always a matter of negotiation, consultation and debates. Therefore, the possible application by the Customs Union of such measures against Ukrainian products has to be also discussed with the Ukrainian side.
Valeriy Muntiyan said when the parties in the consultation process will bring to each their arguments to be made right decision.
«We’ve already begun to explore these issues and will get in touch with the Eurasian Economic Commission in order to prevent these events. Also, similar work will be carried out with the WTO,» Valeriy Muntiyan said.
