Avian flu affects two more in China's Fujian province
08.05.2013 08:02 "Agro Perspectiva" (Kyiv) —
Two new laboratory-confirmed cases of avian influenza have been reported by the National Health and Family Planning Commission of China, UN Radio says.
The cases of the A(H7N9) virus were found in two residents of Fujian province, a 69 year old man and a nine year old boy. Both became ill at the end of April.
As of 7 May, a total of 130 cases of human infection with the avian influenza virus, including 31 deaths, have been reported to the World Health Organization, WHO.
While those closest to the confirmed cases are being monitored, there is no evidence of sustained human-to-human transmission. Still, the authorities in the affected locations continue to implement prevention and control measures.
It is expected that there will be further cases of human infection with the virus.
