Burma importing soybean meal to grow aquaculture industry
12.12.2022 23:32 "Agro Perspectiva" (Kyiv) —
Over the past decade, Burma has emerged as a larger participant in the global soybean meal marketplace. With no commercial crush facilities, Burma is wholly dependent on imports to supply domestic demand for this commodity. Demand for soybean meal is derived from the aquaculture industry which has expanded rapidly over the past 10 years. The largest portion of their aquaculture is devoted to carp (domestically known as rohu) with exports primarily to Thailand and China driving growth. Burma’s largest suppliers of soybean meal are Argentina, the United States, and Brazil, respectively.
