Ukrainian Prime Minister predicts resumption of cooperation with IMF
28.12.2012 12:56 "Agro Perspectiva" (Kyiv) —
Prime Minister of Ukraine Mykola Azarov hopes that the Government will sign a new cooperation agreement with the International Monetary Fund without raising tariffs for housing and communal services for the population.
This was stated by him on Thursday in an interview with Ukrainian TV channels.
«I still do not lose hope that we can agree. But I want to say that now not only the IMF has financial resources. We routinely assume that a loan on favorable terms can be involved only in the IMF. But in fact, there are the enough financial resources in the world and we are working hard to bring them into Ukraine’s economy on favorable terms,» Mykola Azarov said.
He recalled that Ukraine does not involve credit from the IMF for two years because it considers demands for higher utility rates for households unacceptable.
«Ukraine is already doing well without the IMF loans, and so it be doing well without them also the next year. I want to emphasize that we intend to cooperate with the IMF and search for the compromises,» the Prime Minister said.
