Mykola Azarov: We've built up good starting conditions for domestic business for the coming years
26.12.2012 17:28 "Agro Perspectiva" (Kyiv) —
The Government has coped with the main objectives for 2012, and thus has succeeded to create, in particular, good starting conditions for the domestic business development within the coming years. This opinion was expressed by Prime Minister Mykola Azarov at a Cabinet meeting on 26 December 2012, Government Portal reports.
According to Mykola Azarov, this year Ukraine has fulfilled the fundamental commitments of the state to develop the socio-political agenda. In democratic parliamentary elections under the new electoral law, approved, by the way, by all the political parties, the Ukrainian people expressed their will freely. New Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine began its activity. At the same time, the state has undertaken important commitments to improve the electoral law and the legal system to achieve higher democratic standards.
The created according to the European standards new Criminal Procedure Code and the Law on the Prosecutor have already laid a solid foundation of legal reforms.
«Weve made a historic step towards concluding an Association Agreement with the European Union; and in March we initialed its political part and agreed the Action Plan Association with partners,» Mykola Azarov noted. «Im convinced the Agreement is to be signed next year.»
In the economic agenda, the main point for the government under the global crisis was to maintain stable production, i.e. providing our citizens with jobs and income growth.
The Prime Minister said that «with great strain, but we did it.» The year is ending, though with small, but still growth of the economy.
«To my regret, we have not achieved everything what was planned. Because foreign markets and the global capital market for several years in a row have been showing „economic pessimism“, and the discriminatory price of gas continues to „strangle“ the development of our economy,» said Mykola Azarov. «Were forced to rely on its own strength.»
At the same time, Azarov stressed that 2012 was characterized with a decrease in the fiscal burden on business and an increase of economic freedom. The rates of major taxes were reduced, and this tendency will remain efficient also since new year beginning: thus, for example, the profit tax rate will be just 19%, what is the lowest profit tax rate in Europe.
