Advertisement of more than 300 drugs prohibited in Ukraine

Since December 10, the order of the Healthcare Ministry on prohibiting advertisements of drugs, which are sold without a prescription, has come into force in Ukraine.
According to the Ministry press service, the list contains 327 drugs, among which cold medicines and painkillers are dominated, ForUm reports.
The Healthcare Ministry shall prohibit advertisements of the drug if it is sold only with prescription, if it is used exclusively for the treatment of children under 12 and if the drug contains narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances and precursors.
If the drug’s usage can cause addiction syndrome, it shall be also included into the list, except medicines for external (local) administration.
In addition, the drug advertising shall be prohibited, if it is used to treat tuberculosis, sexually transmitted diseases, especially dangerous infectious diseases, HIV / AIDS, cancer and other malignant diseases, chronic insomnia, diabetes, obesity (including medicines used to reduce body weight), and impotence (erectile dysfunction).
