IMF pessimistic about prospects for world economy
09.10.2012 09:17 "Agro Perspectiva" (Kyiv) —
The International Monetary Fund feels pessimistic about the state of and the immediate prospects for the world economy, says Voice of Russia referring to ITAR-TASS.
Growth forecasts have been lowered, while the situation is very likely to worsen. The new IMF report on global economic trends and performance opens with this kind of warning.
The report has been circulated in Washington in the run-up to another annual meeting of the IMF and World Bank op managerial staff in Tokyo.
The report authors point out that it’s unclear whether the world economy is currently through another turbulence zone or the economic growth slowdown is long-term in character.
The BRICS counties remain the main growth drivers. This year, China expects its economy to grow by 7.8%; India, by 4.9%; while Russia, by 3.7%.
